The Taxonomy Of A Metro Is Not Very Different Than The Taxonomy Of The Animal Kingdom

MinnesotaFound is more than a newspaper, it's a magazine and an archive. For that reason, we designed the site around the scientific taxonomy. Local news will always be under the Metro Icon but news is a small part of life in any metropolitan area. The rest of life is in all the other Icons, like Lifestyle, Entertainment, Government, Sports Home and Garden and History and more. In the "Old Days" the newspaper was where everyone went to find everything! The FoundNetwork and this edition, MinnesotaFound, is the new newspaper and it's all available through your phone.

Taxonomy?

This image is an example of the taxonomy of the animal world and begins with "Kingdom" and ends with "Species". You can see from the upside down pyramid that the metro area is the largest group and "species" represents the one subject you may be interested in.

Kingdoms?

Our "Kingdom" is, essintally our world, "Phylum" is the next level, this is what you see on the home page, The Navigation Panel, each tile is called an Icon.

"Class", "Order", "Family", etc is built from those 24 Phylum's and expands on the knowledge of each topic. So the "Phylum", "Lifestyle" has - a "Class" level of 24 icons with topics like "Collecting", Hunting and fishing" or "Crafts". Crafts would have an "Order" level that includes "Tactile Arts", Tactile Arts, at the "Family" level would have "Weaving" and weaving would lead to Ribbon Weavers, and here you would find the "Minnesota Ribbon Weavers Guild" and any topics covering that art.

However the "Minnesota Ribbon Weavers Guild" may also be found in the "Public Treasures" or "Entertainment and Arts" phylum because this type of weaving is also an art. So it is possible to find the same data at different ends of the taxonomy.

Our taxonometric search based on the animal kingdom taxonomy can accomodate over 192 million different subjects about the metro area. Maybe you have an interest in mind.
